VIVAnews - Papua, a province in the easternmost of Indonesia, is seen by many as slipping into a chaotic situation. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is committed to polish up the economic and political conditions in Papua in a peaceful and dignified way.

"Mr President has always forwarded peaceful and dignified ways of problem solving in Papua," presidential adviser Velix Vernando Wanggai told VIVAnews on Wednesday, Dec 23.

Despite the Law on Special Autonomy, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono also issued Presidential Decree No.5/2007 containing four strategies in Papua development to expedite the process.

The first strategy deals with well-being. The government allocates almost Rp 30 trillion to speed up the development in Papua and West Papua.

The second approach is concerned with justice and security, which will be highly led by the police.

The third project is on politics. The Law on Special Autonomy helps dig the strength of several institutions in Papua such as the Regional House of Representatives, the People's Council and traditional systems.

The final strategy includes social and cultural issues, which have been on-going.
